I've known about this band for a few years. For the most part they stay up North. I'm from NC so that is a bit of a drive when they are mainly in NY. However, two days ago they came to Atlanta. This is a six hour drive for me, and the southeast is in a bit of a gas shortage. However, I was going no matter what the hell I had to deal with. I coudln't even get any of my Gogol Bordello loving friends to suck it up and make the long trip, and I didn't care. Eugune is one crazy person, and yes Yuri can play the hell out of a accordion. I spent 13+ hours in a car round trip to see a three hour concert, and let me tell you I am more than happy with that. They were amazing, they have energy like no other band around, and are just insane in general. I crashed when I got back, I went to the Mars Volta the day before (6 more hours of driving). They are worth anything I would have to do to see them. They'll be in Europe soon, and if I had the money for air-fare I'd go overseas to see them!

yeah...I've heard the Eastern European Flogging Molly reference before, but some of their stuff is indeed inescapable catchy (and not in a terribly poppy way either) and they put on a truly exhaustive live show.

Interesting to hear about this. I'd been kind of turned off to them, as to me, they sound like an Eastern European Flogging Molly. But this sounds like quite the show!

I just heard of this band for the first time two days ago, actually. "Start Wearing Purple" has been in my head ever since. Seems like the record would be fine and all, but it's more the thing you take home as a souvenir from one of their shows. I would definitely check them out live if they came by, just for the experience.
