There comes a time in every web reviewer’s life when he’ll receive a homemade CD-R by a girl that does hip hop-influenced twee songs on her acoustic guitar. It’s bound to happen. And of course, our time came earlier this week when we got Jellybean’s Breakfast Burrito And A Coffee To Go in the mail.

Seemingly recorded with the microphones built into her computer, Jellybean’s new record is six of the most adorable ruminations on classically ridiculous hip-hop tunes framing three fun originals. And while that description might seem totally silly and one-trick-ponyesque, it might help if I point out that Jellybean doesn’t seem to be doing this with a single hint of irony. Sounds like she made the songs because they are fun to sing, and didn’t think too hard about where that’d leave her recorded output in the eyes of newcomers.

And it’s a good thing, because Breakfast Burrito And A Coffee To Go has been on repeat at RetroLowFi HQ since we received it. Here’s a few of her tunes for you to check out:
